A Beluga Whale's Habitat
Beluga Whales live in Arctic and Sub-Arctic waters. They prefer
more shallow and coastal waters. Belugas migrate south for the winter and live
up north in the summer time. Belugas can be also found in the North Atlantic and
North Pacific oceans. The reason they migrate south for the winter is because
the ice freezes over. Since they are mammals, they need to breath. The ice-holes
are their place to come up for a breath and when they freeze over, they have no
place to breathe. Beluga Whales have been spotted in the St. Lawrence
River.
